CarfaxStephen Brown
Stephen is a university lecturer, has lived in central Oxford for years and wants to fight for a better area for all local residents in Carfax. "I have been appalled by how Labour has repeatedly neglected Oxford over the last 20 years," said Stephen. "Now I want to join the Lib Dem team on the council who are really starting to turn things around." After years of neglect under Labour the Audit Commission's latest report has said that 'improvement has been impressive' with the Liberal Democrats. Stephen has condemned the double Council Tax rise inflicted on Oxford residents by Labour. The tax rises of 12% over the next 3 years were inflicted on Oxford people by a Labour/Green pact at the last Council meeting. Oxford Lib Dems have worked hard to make the council less wasteful so they could maintain frontline services while keeping the Council Tax down. "At the moment we see a stark contrast between a Lib Dem run city council praised by the Audit Commission for making real improvements, and a Labour Party who are stuck in the past wasting money and then making people pay," said Stephen. Stephen will work to make Oxford greener, against top up fees and to help implement the new licensing scheme for landlords. 3 things to remember:
