Lord Wallace to give speech and public Q&A on Iraq & Chilcott Inquiry in Oxford Wednesday 10th February7.55.25am GMT Tue 9th Feb 2010
William Wallace, the Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader and Foreign Affairs Spokesman will be in Oxford tomorrow to give a public Q&A on Iraq, Chilcott and other international affairs. The event is free and open to the general public. It will take place at the Gladstone Room in the Oxford Union between 4.30 and 6pm. Lord Wallace is a specialist in International Affairs, having served for twelve years as the Director of Studies at the renowned Chatham House and the Professor of International Relations at LSE. Dr Steve Goddard, Oxford East Liberal Democrats parliamentary candidate said "I'm delighted Lord Wallace is coming to Oxford. He is an authoritative voice on foreign affairs and I'm sure will give an illuminating speech. With everything that is being said at the Chilcott Inquiry into the Iraq War it is sure to be a very topical event. Local people who are concerned about the failures of the Labour Government's disastrous foreign policy will be able to attend and ask questions on any issue." "The Liberal Democrats were the only parliamentary party to oppose the war in Iraq and it is crucial we still hold those responsible to account. In particular I would like to know why our New Labour MP not only voted for the war, but also cast his vote on twelve separate occasions against the setting up and terms of reference of an inquiry into Iraq. Sadly he does not appear to want to answer that question."
