LibDems choose Steve Goddard again!
4.02.33pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 7th Apr 2006
Oxford East LibDems have chosen Steve Goddard again as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate.
Steve was the LibDem parliamentary candidate for Oxford East for the last two general elections. In 2001 he halved the majority of Tony Blair's man in Oxford and in 2005 decimated it to a mere 963 votes (less than 2% behind Labour).
Steve has served on Oxford City Council and campaigned in all parts of Oxford. He has lived in Oxford for 20 years, now with his wife Julia and their two young children.
Commenting on his selection Steve said,
"Labour has been taking Oxford East for granted for far too long and I believe people here deserve better. The way our Health Service, Post Offices, Pensions and more have been attacked by the current government just cannot be allowed to go on.
"Last year, I came within a hair's breadth of winning this seat. Over the next few years, I will be meeting as many of the people of Oxford East as possible to listen to their concerns and hope to persuade them to support me as their next MP. I'm delighted and honoured to have been given the opportunity to play a part in ending New Labour's neglect of Oxford East, and the chance to promote liberalism, fairness, community and equality for all"
